Review key reasons for confederation in Canada using this game. As students move through the game they read facts about Canada becoming a country. The game is simple to assemble and easy to play. There are two options for printing - black and white (print on white or on brightly coloured card stock) and black and white with a light blue background.
How to Assemble and Play “Road to Confederation”
1. Print the game boards on coloured card stock if you like.
2. Trim the second page of the game board (trim off the top of the page where the dotted line is marked).
3. Tape the game boards together.
How To Play
-Youngest player goes first.
-Roll the dice and move the number of spots indicated. Follow the directions on the square.
Note: Use one die to maximize the number of spaces students will have to read. Use two dice for a faster game. I like to have students discuss how they will “win” before they play (roll the exact number of squares to arrive at the finish square or does any roll of the die that takes them across the finish mean that they win?). I have students play multiple times with different partners.
