This set of 8 webquest scavenger hunt activities is designed to encourage students to use the websites of their own and other provinces, territories and municipalities. The activities are a good supplement to your classroom teaching of provincial, territorial, and municipal jurisdiction. The webquests vary somewhat in difficulty and are probably best suited from students from grades 6-10, but could be completed by younger students with help finding the websites and some explanation of vocabulary. I like to provide flexibility for teachers and this product’s items can be used in any order, as individual or group activities, and can be used with interactive notebooks. The “Make Your Own Webquest” sheet can be used for both provinces/territories and municipal websites. Student-made webquests can then be completed by classmates.
I have included a page in the product with each provincial and territorial government website - also a URL for a Service Canada page which actually has all the websites listed for easy click through for the students.
Some teacher preparation would be needed to help students complete the activities, as in most cases students choose their own province, territory or municipality to complete the webquests.
The webquests are:
Your Province or Territory
Your Province or Territory - What’s on the Website?
Your Province or Territory - Compare it with Another
Your Municipality - What’s on the Website?
Your Municipality - Compare it with Another
Your Muncipality - The Environment
