This lesson was designed for the high school special ed classroom. However, due to the nature of the content is it also appropriate for the elementary years.
Since this was designed for the special education classroom, students who cannot construct numerals can still participate as it only requires the ability to color to complete. For low-incidence students, a teacher/EA/peer helper can verbally walk them through the task by pointing to each coin that they need to color and saying the value. When the student is done point to each colored coin and count up to the final total. Then point to the printed value in the question stem to help solidify the learning.
Printables to complete a whole class lesson on the board before doing the worksheets are included (large coins you can print, cut out and tape to the board beside a value you have given your students).
5 worksheets in all (one for each coin value)
