Product Description
This is a collection of songs in Spanish to teach culture while practicing listening comprehension in upper-level classes (HS). A link for the video of each song on youtube.com is provided. Each of the four songs has an introduction that includes a brief description of the artist and an explanation of the cultural element in the song. All songs have comprehension questions and topics to discuss or about which to write. An answer key is provided for all contextual vocabulary and listening comprehension questions. These activities have worked well in my Spanish 4, PreAP Spanish 4 and AP Spanish Language classes. Several of the songs integrate well in to the new themes and contexts for the AP Spanish Language and Culture exam.

Me Voy a Convertir en un Ave por Maná-
Introduction to group, explanation of Zapatista movement, 11 free response comprehension questions, link to music video that illustrates situations mentioned in song and topics for further discussion or composition. This activity can be used during instruction of the Philosophical Thought/ religion, Social Conscience, Traditions and Values, Global Citizenship, Personal and Public Identities, Self Esteem and / or National and Ethnic Identity contexts for the AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam.
*This song contains some mature material. It is appropriate for older high school students and college students in classes that can discuss violence and abuse.*

Introduction to singer and song, 6 free response comprehension questions,6 free response contextual vocabulary expression identifications, link to official song video and topics for further discussion or composition
This activity can be used during instruction of the Global Citizenship, Traditions and Social Values, Economy, Social Welfare, Social Conscience, Isolation and Assimilation and National and Ethnic Identities contexts for the AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam.

Introduction to song (Singer presented in previous song activities), 9 free response comprehension questions, link to official music video and topics for further discussion or composition. This activity can be used during instruction of the Health and Medicine, Technology and the Individual, Access to Technology, Technological Innovations, Education and Professions, Social Welfare contexts for the AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam.

Introduction to singer and song, explanation of Santería and sincretism, six free response comprehension questions, six free response contextual vocabulary expression identifications, link to video with the song for those that don’t have the CD (this video does not enhance instruction of the song or topic, though it is completely school appropriate) and topics for further discussion or composition. This activity can be used during instruction of the Educational communities, Traditions and Values, Family Structures, Education and Professions, Personal Relations, Life Styles, Philosophic Thought and Religion, Self Esteem, National and Ethnic Identities and Personal Beliefs contexts for the AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam.
