Ideal for middle school-aged students who are researching political candidates, this resource is a step-by-step guide to finding out more about a candidate's background and his or her views on a given issue. Teachers who use this resource will have to prepare by selecting a list of political issues from which students may choose or be assigned, as well as compiling a list of approved websites from which students may draw information. In order for this project to be successful, students will need to have some background knowledge of the election at hand and the issues that are most prevalent.
This resource is offered as a Word document so that teachers may modify it to fit the particular election cycle. It can be used for any sort of election, from local to national.
