Students estimate the perimeter and area of a box of candy. Then they measure and determine the area and perimeter of the box of candy. Next, they measure the area of a sheet of paper and unfold the box into the 3-D flattened net shape and trace onto a sheet of paper. They determine the area of the sheet of paper not covered by the box. Finally, they create another box net that is 1/2 the size of their original candy box. After creating the new net, they answer questions about the project and explain how they completed the project. Finally, they score their project based upon the included rubric.
