These 21 addition worksheets resemble number bonds or part-part-total addition exercises. The whole packet contains 24 pages because a cover page, a finished sample page, and a directions page are included.
The worksheets are introduced sequentially from the lowest (sums to 3) to the highest (sums to 10). Each worksheet focuses on a particular sum. The number of worksheets/ sum varies, depending on the sum. For example, sums to 3 are on one worksheet whereas sums to 10 are on four worksheets. It is not recommended that the students do the entire packet at once. The work should be spread out over several days.
All the teacher has to do is provide directions, printed worksheets, and red and green colored pencils.
There are broken line candy cane drawings for each example. The children trace these candy canes using their red and green colored pencils in any combination of the 2 colors. They can also choose to color all of them either all green or all red as well. Combinations cannot be repeated within a sum.
Children will fill in addition example blanks and boxes according to the way they had chosen the colors to trace the candy canes.
This is a fun and festive way to do addition. The kids will love it!
