Two different candy corn themed coloring activities to distinguish synonym pairs.
The pairs of non synonyms are NOT always antonyms, but do show another association with the pair of words (ie, homophones, beginning sounds, etc).
This activity was designed to get my students really thinking about synonym pairs, but not necessarily having the related antonym pair to compare the words to.
It was also designed with more difficult/less familiar words, as my 4th and 5th graders are already too familiar with synonym pairs like "up-above" etc. The challenge was to take some words that they might have been less familiar with, and those words they were required to look up definitions when needed. We worked on expanding their grade level vocabulary as well.
