Description
Experiments with candy are a big hit in the STEM Lab! This is a great study of what happens when you add liquids to hard-shelled candies. It is a perfect challenge to use at Halloween time and keep the learning going!
The challenge begins with an exploration using candy. The experiment plan then follows the scientific method with lab sheets to complete as you work. Students will be using small bowls, pipettes, and hand lenses. They will be brainstorming, asking questions, choosing an experiment, writing the steps of their plan, and then carrying out the experiment. Best of all, the main ingredient is candy!
This experience will take two to three class sessions to complete. It's a perfect combination of experimenting and designing!
You will need materials along with this package, including: Gobstoppers candy; various other hard shell candies like M&M’s and Skittles; Petri dishes or shallow round bowls; Water; Pipettes (optional); Hand lenses (optional); Containers in various sizes and shapes; other liquids, like milk or vinegar; and Chart paper.
