February is fast approaching! This instructional unit is cross-curricular and has lessons and activities for science, math, history, and language arts. The lessons and activities are aligned to the California States Standards, as well as the Common Core State Standards. These lessons, with accompanying activities, ate hands-on, engaging, investigatory, and collaborative. They are so fun and exciting that the kiddos will absolutely love them! Most activities are appropriate from 1st-8th grade, with some needing modifications and adapting for the upper grades. Some of the simpler concepts can even be used in Kindergarten. Some of the concepts include discovering what ingredients react to vinegar and baking soda, graphing, sorting, measuring, letter sorting, writing, student-talk or student discourse, plot and character analysis, coordinate pairs, mixtures, area and perimeter, estimation, and so much more. Since this is based on candy hearts and is themes around February, you do not have to wait until Valentine's Day to do these activities; they can be done throughout the month and beyond.
