This game is a great reinforcement activity for any learning target! Simply have the students practice a particular skill, such as speech sound production, vocabulary naming, categorization, etc. to earn their turns in the game!
Directions: Print game cards on heavy card stock. Cut apart and laminate for durability. Recommended number of copies for groups up to five students:
• Page 3: 5 copies
• Page 4: 3 copies
• Page 5: 2 copies (Page 6 is an optional design for the back of the cards).
The bonus/penalty cards (page 5) are what make this game particularly enjoyable for students. However, feel free to omit them if you have students who have great difficulty accepting loss of game cards until you have helped them develop this social skill.
To play: Give each student 5 cards, each containing a single piece of candy, to start the game. At the end of each subsequent turn the student chooses a game card from a bag or from a face-down pile in the center of the table. If the student chooses a candy card, he keeps it. If he/she chooses a bonus or penalty card, the child follows the direction on his/her chosen card. Play then passes to the next player. At the end of the game, the player with the most candy is the winner.
