Product Description
This product includes three different classroom resources for Chaucer's Canterbury Tales:

CT Character Modern Comparison Activity

This is an assignment that requires students to select one of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales characters, analyze the character's description, and compare the character to its modern equivalent. Consider, for example, comparing the knight to a soldier or police officer, the shipman to a sailor, or the physician to a modern doctor.

The included two-column chart requires students to analyze physical appearance, educational background, job description, and social status of both their selected character and its modern equivalent. This is a useful activity that requires students to analyze text and research prospective careers.

Canterbury Tales Character Autobiography

This is an assignment that requires students to select one of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales characters, analyze the character's prologue description, and "become" the character through a presentation to the class. This activity requires students to read critically, and the presentation allows them to sharpen their public speaking skills.

While providing textual support, students must analyze their character's:

-Physical description
-Occupation
-Morality/flaws
-Past

Canterbury Tales Quiz

I give this quiz to my students after they have read the Prologue of the Canterbury Tales. This is a twenty question assessment that forces students to correctly match up twenty characters with their descriptions. I have also included the answer key.
