Product Description
The Capital Letters Complete Review Packet – Grades 5-8 consists of 14 pages of attractive handouts with practice activities and quizzes to refresh students on all the rules for capitalization. Two main study guides provide clearly stated rules and examples to guide students through the practice. Extra Review Pages follow, along with two quizzes and a test with answer keys. Great for independent, partner, stations, or whole-class use!

The packet contains

--TWO MAIN STUDY GUIDES: Capital Letters#1 and Capital Letters#2

CAPITAL LETTERS#1 – Words to ALWAYS Capitalize – Each category is listed (names, geographic places, holidays, historical events, businesses, organizations, languages, ETC.) with several examples given, students must provide additional examples or edit incorrect examples. Please see the PREVIEW.

--Capital Letters#1 Review – A page with 20 sentences containing capitalization errors that correspond to the rules students practiced on Capital Letters#1 Study Guide. Students identify the words that need to be capitalized.

--Capital Letters Practice – 20 different categories are listed and students must write an original sentence using an example from the given category (ex. award, planet, holiday, etc.)

--Capital Letters#1 QUIZ and Answer Key

CAPITAL LETTERS#2 – Words that are SOMETIMES Capitalized – Each category is listed (titles of books, movies, etc.; family and business titles, school subjects, brand names, directional words) with specific rules and examples. Then practice sentences are provided under each category for students to edit.

--Capital Letters#2 Review – A page that begins with 15 sentences containing capitalization errors that correspond to the rules students practiced on Capital Letters#2 Study Guide. Students must identify the words that need to be capitalized. Then students are given five categories from the Capital Letters#2 Study Guide (ex. brand name with product, movie title, etc.) and they have to write an original sentence containing an example from that category.

--Capital Letters#2 Short QUIZ and Answer Key – (This quiz is geared to struggling learners.)

--Capital Letters#1 & 2 TEST (This test is geared to grade-level and higher-level learners because it combines the rules of both study guides. )

--Capital Letters “Categories” Review – Two pages of overall review where categories are listed in columns with examples and students provide their own examples. Includes “Write a Creative Sentence” page where students write original sentences using multiple examples in each sentence.

--Capital Letters Newspaper Hunt – A partner activity where students choose several categories that require capital letters and then go on a newspaper scavenger hunt for examples of sentences that contain capital letters from those categories.

If you would like to engage students in short but comprehensive lessons that can be done independently, as partner or station work, or as whole class mini-lessons with corresponding quizzes/test, this product would be helpful.
