How I use it:
I have been doing an intensive punctuation program this term and thus have been doing one chapter a day.
You could equally do one a week for ten weeks.
I read the story to the class then set them off to do the sheets independently.
After completion, I bring the students to the mat and ask them to tell me how many full stops they have found. I record this on the board ie 10 found 12, 3 found 13 etc.
Then lastly we read it together and mark it together.
My class started the unit with only 4 out of 28 children putting the full stops all in the right place, now we are up to chapter 5 and 17 children are putting the full stops all in the right place.
More importantly, they are always asking, “when are we being full stop detectives again?”
Some of my class wear their 'Full Stop Detective badges' all day!
I am sure your students will love it as much as mine.
