You’ve heard the expression a mile a minute? Participants earn one mile for each minute of aerobic exercise. The “miles” add up as students move across the four time zones in which the 48 contiguous states are located. Students begin by learning about Richmond, VA. They then “walk” (or jog, swim, dance, climb…) their way 961 miles/minutes to Little Rock, AR in the Central Time Zone. They keep moving, learning, and having fun until they reach Sacramento. As the group reaches each new city, students receive an information page and an activity page. Compete among classes or groups to see who can trek across time (zones) fastest, or cooperate as a class or group to finish the program in a predetermined amount of time.
