This resource is a class game built to simulate certain dynamics of capitalism. The simulation is built to give students a sense regarding the flow of capital, production of goods, and sale of goods and how this generates wealth. In addition, the simulation seeks to call into the question of the fairness of capital distributed, and the psychological implications of the different roles within a capitalist economy.
When the game concludes, the teacher will discuss the capitalism simulation with the students. Focusing on the following questions:
Designed for use in an 8th grade History classroom in Oakland, California, but adaptable to many higher grades as well.
