See Preview for a look at the incomplete sentences/complete sentences cards and the cards for practice using commas.
The first part includes 17 worksheets that focus on either capitalization or punctuation such as the following:
Capitalization: words that name a month, day, or person, correcting sentences that have incorrect capitalization.
Punctuation: complete vs. incomplete sentences, commas, question marks, exclamation points, correcting sentences that are either missing periods or have incorrect punctuation.
I have also included two pages for assessment.
The second part includes materials that a teacher can use to introduce the concept by sorting word cards in a pocket chart and then the materials can be used as an independent center.
1. Word cards that name a month, day, or person (a card for each month, a card for each day, and 5 cards with a person's name)
2. Word cards for matching an asking sentence with the matching telling sentence. (12 asking sentence cards and 12 cards with the answer/telling sentence)
3. Cards for sorting incomplete and complete sentences (5 complete sentence cards and 5 incomplete sentence cards)
4. Word cards for sorting asking sentences vs. telling sentences (12 asking sentence cards and 10 telling sentence cards)
5 A center for practice with commas in which students use word cards, picture cards, and punctuation cards to make sentences that need commas.
Great for meeting first grade common core standards or as a review in second grade.
