CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.9-10.2b Use a colon to introduce a list or quotation.
Poor David in confused about how to use colons in his research paper. Luckily, Captain Grammar swoops in to teach him--and your class--how to use them to introduce lists and quotes.
This product includes the following:
--Captain Grammar Readers' Theater Script: This provides the anticipatory set by getting the class interested in the concept. It is a little over two pages long and is a Microsoft Word file so you can edit it to fit your needs.
--Prezi: This thirteen-slide presentation begins with the example sentence from the skit. It goes over the two uses of colons and includes three guided practice questions with possible answers included in the presentation.
If you'd like to see a full skit and Prezi, please download my free product, Captain Grammar and the Semicolon. The preview file also shows what the Prezi looks like and includes the first few lines of the skit. I love lessons that make me really enjoy my job, and this is one of them.
