Capture 5- A game for recognizing numbers through 10
Looking for a fun math station this winter on numbers through 10? Capture 5 is a game your students will want to play again and again!
How to play:
This is a center game for 4 students. Each student will choose one of the game boards- each one is different.
Next, take one card and turn it face up. As a group, talk about what number is represented on the card. Encourage students to justify their answers.
Once everyone agrees, each player may place one game marker (chip, coin, etc.) somewhere on their game board.
Play continues with the next player choosing a card from the deck for the group.
The game ends when one player has “captured 5”– gotten 5 blocks in a row covered. They may win with a vertical, horizontal, or diagonal row of 5.
-4 different capture 5 student game boards
