Challenge your students to build a car out of a toilet paper roll, cardboard, straws, paperclips, and tape! This lab can introduce/extend/evaluate the concept of distance/time=rate. Has students build a car, test it, put it through 3 trials, and calculate the speed of each run and the average speed. This is an excellent STEM activity for your class or STEM club - incorporating Science, Engineering, and Math. Also provides a perfect opportunity for graphing practice extension.
