Students will classify 4 categories of carbon based molecules: carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids and proteins. Students will receive 24 word cards (some definitions, some descriptions, some are simple or complex clues) and 30 picture cards (some are molecules, some are pictures and some are clues). An answer key is included that you can project up on your board for easy class answer checking, correction and class discussion.
This is a great hands on activity to reinforce the types of carbon based molecules. You could also turn this activity into a foldable for your science journal by cutting and pasting the cards into a science journal. I created this activity for high school Biology class, however, it can be used for lower grade levels as well.
