Description

This hands-on manipulative requires students recognize and identify the various carbon sinks and process that drive the carbon cycle. Students must be able to identify each of the five major carbon sinks and then identify the processes that move carbon to and from that sink. This manipulative game helps students conceptually understand how and where carbon is moving in the cycle. This manipulative is a great for learning the fundamentals of the carbon cycle. In addition to the manipulative, an assessment handout is included that requires students to identify where water is moving from and to in the cycle and what causes that movement. This download is a comprehensive and engaging learning piece that will certainly helps students conceptualize the movement of carbon through the carbon cycle instead of simply memorizing.

Materials:
• Carbon Cycle Boards (1 per group of 3 if played as a manipulative game or 1 per student if used as an interactive notes page)
• Set of game cards (1 per group or 1 per student)
• Student assessment handout (1 per student)

Prep:
• Print boards – there are 2 different boards included: Level 1 (provides more support in completing the board) and Level 2 (more advanced)
