The card match activity provides 16 multiplication of monomial problems. The students cut the cards apart, multiply and simplify the unsimplified expressions. The students then match the simplified form to the unsimplified form and write the results on a recording sheet.
Alternatively, the cards may be paired and glued to another sheet of paper for display. The activity give kinesthetic learners some movement while performing the task. The cards have built-in self-checking capability because there are the same number of problems as there are answers.
The work may be done individually or with a partner. The activity document comes with two sizes of cards, so the teacher may decide which size to use. The document also includes a recording sheet for the students.
