This is an activity I created while teaching a career development class in middle school. However, it could also be used in an upper elementary or even a high school classroom as part of a career class or a career unit. Students are challenged to name jobs or careers that began with every letter of the alphabet. (Yes, it's possible.)
I created this activity because I found that my students, most of whom were from low income neighborhoods, had a very limited idea of the jobs that were available. Most of them can only name the same four or five occupations, such as law enforcement, doctors and nurses, teachers, athletics and actors, etc. I used this as an introductory activity to introduce them to the idea that there were more possibilities. However, since it is a self-contained worksheet, it could also be used as a homework or substitute activity.
