This is a word document that you can customize to fit your students' needs. I have included 4 careers (engineer, auto mechanic, chef, and marketing) with education requirements and possible salaries. These were the 4 most inquired about careers with my students in Applied Math.
I printed out a couple sheets of the career cards and just changed the salaries so each student had a different career salary.
I then handed out career cards to students, and then separated them into groups of 5-6 based on their career.
As a group, they then had to find the mean, median, and modal salary of their career using their given career cards. I also asked them as a group to explain which is the best measure of central tendancy to describe what an engineer / chef / marketing / auto - mechanic makes. This led nicely into skewed data and how the a very high salary (CEO) can skew salary data of employees.
