In this game, the teacher says a word in English and the students compete to find the word in Spanish first. Many teachers have teams, project the paper onto a whiteboard, and have one student from each team compete at a time, using a fly swatter to hit the word, hence the name "matamoscas".
I give each student their own paper and they can play with the person next to them so that more students are involved at a time. The push their desks together, put one paper in between them, and use their finger (only one!). They can switch a few times and play with different people in the room. Keep tally marks in the top corners of the paper.
In this version, you can also play on the second page with visuals. You say the word in Spanish, the students find the picture. It's good for vocab review.
