Create a caring, welcoming classroom environment by helping your students think about and recognize caring words and behavior!
This lesson and the results of this lesson can be reused throughout the year, becoming completely student-driven.
This lesson, based on the book Have You Filled a Bucket Today? A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids by Carol McCloud, is transdisciplinary and incorporates multiple learning styles.
In this lesson students will seek to answer the following essential questions:
1. What does it mean to be caring?
2. What does a caring person do?
3. How can I show that I am caring?
4. What have I learned about myself?
The activities students will engage include creating a "What do caring people do?" class poster, role playing, composing caring songs in groups, and engaging in self and peer reflection.
