Product Description

This is an incredibly flexible pack of activities to use and reuse to begin, end or extend your daily math class. Students love the fun routine and you will love the discussions you hear around the room! The perfect way to reduce prep and printing and help your students warm up for today's lesson.

The activities in this pack can be laminated or put in plastic sleeves and answered in whiteboard marker. Make up a folder or duotang of your favourite icebreakers and have students keep them in their desks, ready to go.

This pack includes 8 different icebreaker activities:

  • Équations fantastiques: Students make their own equations to reach a target number of your choice. You decide whether or not they are limited to certain operations.
  • Nombre du jour: You choose the number and students represent it in four different ways! Two versions included (with and without pre-determined representations).
  • Parlons des maths: An open-ended discussion starter for the classroom. Choose your topic and have students prepare for discussion by writing down their thoughts, questions and knowledge to share. Math talks rock!
  • Vocabulaire mathematique: Pick your word of the day and have students show what they know. A great way to begin class by reviewing a previous concept.
  • Vrai ou Faux: You write a problem and its answer or a statement and students have to decide if it is true or false and give their evidence.
  • Énigmes de maths: Challenge your students with a difficult problem. Focus on having students show their work. Sometimes just calling something an enigma makes it more exciting!
  • Montre ce que tu sais: You pick the topic and students show you everything they know about it. You can use this as a great opener for new units or to review concepts learned. It's a great way to formatively assess as you walk around the classroom.
  • Lexique Mathematique: A personal math dictionary where students include definitions and examples or drawings.
