I print a bunch of these off at the beginning of the year and use them for a variety of activities. The carousal activity involves students moving in groups through a series of stations.
I usually begin by having them complete a bell ringer in the top box where they either learn a new skill or review one.
I have usually five stations set up with an activity that takes roughly five minutes at each. This can be as simple as them answering questions they usually would complete in a worksheet or as complex as them exploring an object.
I use a timer to keep them on track. My students love the fact that they can converse with their classmates about their responses (common core, yay!) and that they aren't implanted in a seat for 45 minutes.
