This packet includes an integrated measurement and graphing activity. The students use one of the workshop benches to measure lumber to the nearest inch, half-inch, or centimeter. The lumber is cut and glued on paper to create a scene or design. The students record the lumber sizes they used on a line plot. Two lumber widths are provided, but only one size of lumber should be used per investigation for the purpose of creating an accurate line plot. Copy a student’s completed picture and line plot for the students to recreate or have the students exchange their completed pictures and line plots to recreate each other’s design.
