Carpet Rules is a social story intended to help students learn the rules of the carpet and why it's important to follow classroom rules.
Social Stories are a great way to introduce, reinforce, promote, and prompt positive or desired behaviours in the classroom, or new or social situations. This story may be helpful for students on the autism spectrum, for students who have difficulty during carpet time, and for early primary students.
This social story uses Boardmaker symbols, which helps to keep communication and visuals simple and consistent for students who already use Boardmaker symbols in their daily routines and communication. I also find the simplicity of Boardmaker symbols easy for young students to interpret without having to know how to read.
While this isn't the exact wording, these are the 6 carpet rules this social story describes:
1. Eyes on the speaker.
2. Ears are listening.
3. Mouth is closed.
4. Sitting criss cross.
5. Hands and feet are quiet.
6. Raise hand to speak.
This product includes:

- 1 page Carpet Time social story (The 11 pages condensed on to 1 page)
