Carrier phrases are phrases in which the first few words are constant and only the last word changes. These phrases help to encourage longer utterances, offer repetition and provide multiple opportunities to practice targets without an additional cognitive task of having to generate ideas, which may detract from the articulation or vocabulary drill. For early readers, they also provide sight word practice!
This FREEBIE product includes common carrier phrases for use with articulation picture cards or words (not included in this FREEBIE) to expand the child’s production to the phrase/simple sentence level. Carrier phrases include pronouns I, he, she, they, it, you; question words do, can, where, what; verbs is/are, has/have, like(s), see(s), want(s), found; and category, function, attribute defining/describing strips.
