The Carryover Calendar is a great resource for parents to help their
child practice their long vowels over extended breaks or summer
vacation. The Carryover Calendar for Long Vowels package includes: the Calendar, Bingo cards for each long vowels, Nursery Rhymes targeting the long vowels, Word Lists and Discrimination Lists for the long vowels, a Word Sort activity, and pictures of items
that use the long vowels for a Picture Matching activity.
The Calendar gives 30 suggestions for daily activities where you can practice with your child focusing on saying and recognizing long vowels. Activities range from reciting a nursery rhyme that uses the target sound, singing a song that uses the long vowels, playing games such as Picture Matching, Bingo or a board game, such as Candyland, or a card game such as Go Fish. Some activities involve thinking of nouns or verbs that contain long vowels. Other activities include reading stories or making up stories using words with long vowels.
The Nursery Rhymes pages, Word List pages, Word Sort worksheet, Discrimination Word List, Bingo Cards, and Picture
pages are included as resources for the calendar.
