In this graphing puzzle, the student will:
1). plot points in a coordinate plane (no fractions).
2). draw line segments.
3). reflect segments and plane figures across the x- and y-axis.
4). name polygons by the number of sides.
5). find the perimeters of some polygons.
6). find the area of a square.
7). recall the number of degrees in a right angle.

Please do not be intimidated by the 8.1 Core Standard number if it appears in the "core numbers" . . . it is the one that has the student work with reflections (among other things). Our reflections are not all that complex.

Our Cartesian Cartoon Puzzle series is intended to offer different slants and blends from most of the “graphing ordered pairs” worksheets and puzzles that are currently on the market. As with all our puzzles we hope to blend and integrate as many topics as we can in any one puzzle by reviewing old concepts and skills while introducing new ones . . . and add a touch of humor, or depth, when we are able. Our Cartesian Coordinate puzzles are split into two “sections.” Fifteen puzzles review and introduce skills that middle school students are expected to become proficient with . . . and fifteen puzzles blend, review, and work with skills important for high school students should become familiar with before they matriculate to the university level. Both sets of puzzles can be purchased individually, or as a set for a discounted price. The middle school graphing parts of the puzzles concentrate on graphing points, making segments/plane figures, symmetry, and reflecting across both the x- and y-axis. The fill-in-the-blanks parts of the puzzles concentrate on setting up algebra and reviewing arithmetic skills. The high school graphs concentrate on piecing together domains, ranges, and the graphing of various functions important to success in upper level math.
