***This product has been completed revised September 2017 with additional standards and new components, such as clue task cards. The printables include all the concepts listed below. It now also includes Full Page Clue Cards that can be used during morning routines or as an anticipatory set to get the students thinking prior to a math lesson. The task cards with the clues and task cards with the numbers (2 fonts) can be used in a math station as a matching activity. Detailed directions with sample pictures for the printables are provided that suggest teaching strategies to help students “show their thinking when doing math.” This insight is beneficial for guided math instruction, especially for interventions. The printables can be used in interactive notebooks at math stations or for homework.
*This freebie is for the number 36.* Case of the Mystery Number is a fun and comprehensive activity. It reinforces math vocabulary and integrates "Guess My Number" and "Name Collection Boxes" into one product. Math Vocabulary includes: number line, open number line, hundreds chart, between, greater than, less than, more than, equal to, even, odd, dozen, double, penny (picture), nickel (picture), dime (picture), circle, even, odd, one less (-1), one more (+1), tally, ten frame, number bond, money, coins, values, add, together, place value, ones, tens, Base Ten, standard notation, expanded notation, and represent.
This is the fourth set that covers the numbers 31-40. Each number has 2 pages. Page one has two versions- one with a regular number line with numbers provided and a second version without numbers for students learning to use an "Open Number Line." Both options of the number line are provided to allow differentiation, especially for younger students or as an intervention when students need the numbers provided when they are learning to count.
On the first page, students use the clues to find the mystery number. Once students solve for the mystery number, they use the mystery number to complete the other tasks. It is helpful for students to do the clues together in small or whole group instruction to ensure they are completing the tasks using the correct number.
Students must show the mystery number using:
* Number Line/ Open Number Line
* Hundreds Chart
* Number Before (-1), Number After (+1), Ten Less (-10), and Ten More (+10)
* Tally Marks
* Odd/ Even
* Ten Frames
* Number Bond
* Place Value (pictorial representation, standard and expanded notation)
*Other Ways to Represent the Mystery Number
