Product Description
“The Case of the Tuneful Time Traveler” is a BOOMWHACKER game that helps students review the line and space notes found in the melody "Ode to Joy" in G Major. It is the fifth in my Music Detective series. THIS IS THE SMART NOTEBOOK VERSION. Click HERE for "Case of the Tuneful Time Traveler" Boomwhacker Game - POWERPOINT VERSION

Students are immediately enthralled with this suspenseful, kid-friendly mystery and cannot wait to try Beethoven's Challenge. In the story, a mysterious visitor "Mr. B" (Beethoven) travels to present day New York City trying to find someone to help keep classical music alive. In order to complete the challenge, students have to perform “Ode to Joy” on boomwhackers. There are two levels of play: version 1 has the letter names and boomwhacker colors under the notes on the staff; version 2 just has the written music. Students can perform the whole melody or one line at a time. On the whole melody pages, I have included a recording of the piano playing the melody and simple accompaniment. Teachers point at the pitches to keep the students together. Pitches include: high and low D, G, A, B, and C. There is also a separate page for reviewing the dotted rhythm with a recording played on recorder.

The story is engaging for students, the graphics are beautiful, and the game works perfectly for a music class, a musical sub, and for a small group of homeschool students!

This game takes one or two 30-minute classes, depending on the level of your students and how much time you spend on the review (I include review pages). This lesson would be most appropriate and enjoyable for exceptional 1st graders and up. I wrote the story using a variety of vocabulary levels to challenge exceptional students.

I hope you enjoy this fun, interactive game!
