"Casí Casí" is fun movie made by two Puerto Rican brothers who were influenced by American teen movies in the 80s (Like "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and "The Goonies"). It is filmed in Puerto Rico and the cast is all Spanish-speaking, Puerto Rican high school students. It is about one student who has a crush on another and the lengths he will go to win her affections. His friends all play a role in the plan they devise and it's a lot of fun to watch it unfold. All of my beginning Spanish students have enjoyed this film and learned from it.
The packet I created to accompany the film keeps them engaged and also helps them work together. It serves as a review and application of many topics learned throughout the year. I often showed this film at the end of the school year.
