Despite what we sometimes think, students like to learn collaboratively. I began using these cassette tape labels on my desks this year, and the kids found it to be a fun way to assign tasks and form new groups quickly.
These labels are designed to be used in quads (groups of 4) and they let you:
-Create "A partners" and "B partners" within groups.
-Assign specific tasks to one student in each group (using numbers 1-4). Say something like "person number 3, please collect your team's markers and return them."
-Randomly select a desk number using the small numbers in the bottom left corner.
-Instantly create four new groups using the icons in the bottom right corner.
-Randomly select a tape color, or group students according to the color of their tape.
-Anything else you come up with!
Note: the file includes a page of blank tapes so that you can label them yourself if needed.
