Students research the hieroglyphic alphabet and look at a variety of cartouche designs by different artists. Students write their names in hieroglyphs and choose an Egyptian god that represents them. Students are given a plaster slab, a face mask, and carving tools. After they carve their cartouche and god into their plaster slab they make paper mash and press it into to the carve mould. The final piece is finished with acrylic paints.
