This word work center (literacy center) is perfect for practicing word building using vowels, consonants and consonant blends and diagraphs. This is one of my students (2nd grade) favorite word work game. They are very self-motivated to reach level 8 and love looking for words in their books or around the classroom to help them.

This PDF contains 29 read to print pages. The file includes:
-8 castle levels
-8 recording sheets
-vowels, consonants, blends and diagraph cuts outs (available in black and white)
I printed all the levels and letters on card stock. I laminated each level (this way kids can also use dry erase markers). I made 3 sets so multiple kids can work on the same level at the same time. I made a booklet of all of the recording sheets and stapled them together for each student. I have a bin that they put their recording sheet in when they finish a level. They know not to interrupt me when I am at a guided reading group so they pick another word work station until I had time to check it and give it a sticker. The kids love it and none of mine have reached level 8 yet!
