Use this writing activity to supplement Read Across America or any Dr. Seuss lesson.
Words from the story are provided and can be cut into strips. Black words = sight words, blue = verbs, red = nouns. Place words inside of a bag or box for students to choose from. Depending on student needs, you can use three different hats and a choose a word from each, or only use one set of words. There are three differentiated worksheets provided:
1. Write the word and draw a picture
2. Write a sentence containing each word
3. Write a story using the words
For a fun art project, make a patterned Dr. Seuss-inspired hat. On the patterned strips, write the words used during the writing activity. Place the worksheet on the back of the hat for students to both wear AND display their work!
