Product Description
This is a 82 slide PowerPoint presentation with built-in class notes (red slides), challenge questions with answers, video links, build a spoon catapult project, and more. This PowerPoint is one small part of my Laws of Motion and Simple Machines Unit that I offer on TpT (1500+ slides, HW, Notes, and much more).

Also included are hundreds of unit PowerPoint slides, the bundled homework package, unit notes, and much more.

This PowerPoint begins describing that Machines transfer force from one place to another, changes direction of a force, increases the magnitude of a force, increases the speed or distance of a force. The Newton and mass are then described. Catapults are described and both potential and kinetic energy are addressed. After a brief challenge question about Trebuchet catapults, Trajectory is described. Apex is described in a series of challenge questions. A link to a video game called "Ragdoll Cannon" breaks up some of the note taking with a fun trajectory game break. An activity that involves going outside and hitting some golf balls with various irons is described with directions and visuals. I run this activity as a demonstration on the soccer field. Plastic golf balls could be used and the class could participate but be aware of safety risks. An activity that has students create a catapult from a plastic spoon is described. The spoons can shoot ping pong balls or wooden molecule balls or clay etc. This is a neat PowerPoint which includes some exciting activities built right in. Please see the entire unit that I offer on TpT called The Laws of the Motion and Simple Machines Unit before purchasing this PowerPoint.

This PowerPoint includes critical notes (Red Slides), exciting visuals, challenge questions, activities with directions and more. Text is usually placed at the top of the slide so it can be read from all angles of a classroom. Color coded slides, as well as a shade technique is used to increase student focus and allows the teacher to control the pace of the lesson. These PowerPoints are meant to be interactive as possible and ask many questions, provides built in review opportunities, explains directions to activities, and much more. Transition effects are never used.
