In this assignment, your students will chose a character from any novel, short story, or movie you had them read/watch. They will complete an artistic portion which features the character attempting to catch, with a net, the one word that best describes his/her motive. The student will also, providing strong text evidence, write a strong written piece explaining why the motive fits the character.
This product comes with a sample of a student's work that you will read and evaluate with your class. What makes this a good sample? What did the student do well? Your class will also see a sample art portion.
This can be used with any piece of writing! It's great to do in the classroom together or to leave as a plan for a substitute. The final project makes a really neat bulletin board.
I left the work as a WORD DOCUMENT so that you can make any changes in the rubric that best fit your class. This assignment can be adapted for any grade level.
