Throughout our reading of The Catcher in the Rye, we spend a lot of time talking about Holden and how he is feeling and coping. Often times Holden can’t come right out and say the words to express his emotions. That’s where this project comes in.

This assignment provides a 2-page project overview sheet that includes step by step directions, as well as grading information. Teachers, please look over the second page of this to complete the dates and points as they apply to your classroom. Also, a group grading sheet and a presentation rubric is included.

Then, there are 8 sets of lyrics, perfect for creating 8 small groups:
“I am a Rock, I am an Island” by Simon and Garfunkel
“More Than a Memory” by Garth Brooks
“Use Somebody” by Kings of Leon
“Under Pressure” by Queen and David Bowie
“My Immortal” by Evanescence
“Basket Case” by Green Day
“Jumper” by Third Eye Blind
“Somebody that I Used to Know” by Gotye
