When I first taught Catcher, I wanted to integrate poetry and art into the unit. I found three poems and two paintings from the 1950s in order to create four pages and 16 questions that relate to the novel.
These handouts also work well for discussion and group work. I found that students, especially those who were more advanced or just thought Holden was grouchy, responded well to the images and poems.
The download includes a link to a Google Doc that has the poem texts, but I also provide links to the poems online. Plus, they are famous poems that are available free in something called books at a place called the library. However, as long as the Google Doc link is working, you can use that. In fact, just have students make a copy and fill in the blanks online.
This is NOT part of the Catcher/Rebel Combo pack.
