Description

In this lesson, students will identify and discuss problems and solutions and how, in this particular story, problems lead to more problems which need additional solutions. In addition, there is a bonus "enrichment" piece where students search for sensory images, figurative language, and discuss author's purpose.

*NEW* I just added printable (for packets) and digital (for Google Classroom) components that will help with distance learning. A link to the video is included.

Catching the Moon, by Crystal Hubbard is the inspirational true story of Marcenia Lyle - the first woman to play baseball in a men's professional baseball league.

Students love learning about real people and their stories of perseverance and triumph. Marcenia is a delightful role model. My fifth graders love her story!

This lesson is aligned with Common Core State Standards (CCSS) as well as Virginia SOLs.

The book is NOT included.
