Categorical Data & Two-Way Tables: Frequency & Relative Frequency (Common Core Aligned Lesson)

This product includes a lesson plan with worksheet and answer key aligned with the common core. Students learn how to summarize, represent, and interpret data from two categorical variables with a two-way frequency table. Students also learn how to recognize possible associations and trends in the data. This lesson covers frequencies and relative frequencies. The worksheet can be used as an in-class handout or as homework. Questions assess statistical reasoning as well as mechanics.

Past students have tended to find the distinction between relative frequency and conditional relative frequency confusing. Therefore, conditional relative frequency is introduced in a separate lesson in which the distinction between the two concepts is emphasized.
