This activity was designed to help one of my students with her receptive language goal of identifying an item that does not belong in a category. To use, print and laminate the cards. Punch a hole and attach with a binder ring if you want to make it into a book. After you prompt your student with, "What does not belong?" Have him/her point to the item. Make it even more fun by having them smash a ball of Playdoh on the item that doesn't belong or mark with a dry erase marker!
You can easily make this into an expressive language activity by having your students name the pictures, tell you which item does not belong, why it does not belong, and the category the other items do belong in. Also included in this packet is a data sheet to help you stay organized with this goal!
