This Categories packet contains materials for skill drill practicing categories using pictures of common items in groups. The packet is set up in drill cards with 3 common categorical items and one blank box for verbally “adding one more” to the group. Black & white images are also included for sorting/naming/describing.
→This product includes:
•35 cards with 3 items from the same category on each card (pgs. 8-13)
⭐Categories include: body parts, money, instruments, table settings, places/outside, tools, things the light/shine, jobs, exercise/play, fruits, forest animals, camping, zoo animals, bedroom, clothing, weather/sky, pets, rooms/inside, kitchen things, sports, desserts, school supplies, beach, vegetables, food, drinks, pond animals, birthday, Halloween, Christmas, transportation, farm animals, face/body, things on the feet, things you sit on
•Cover card and category cue card (pg. 14)
•Black & white images-4 images in each of 35 categories (These are the same 3 images from the drill cards, plus one more for each category.)
•Category data sheets (pgs. 22-23)
Print, cut, and laminate, if desired, all cards (pgs. 8-14). Use cover card and cue card to top off your stack. It is suggested to punch a hole in drill cards and use a ring (not included) to hold all cards together for quick drill, if desired. You can also include cards in a photo storage container (not included) or combine as you wish. Use cue cards for teaching the target expressive vocabulary skill of categorization and adding one more to each category. You can also use for labeling, defining, exclusion, etc.
Print and copy, as desired, black and white vocabulary pictures to add to crafts, cut and sort, label, describe, exclude, etc. I like to store the originals in sheet protectors in a binder (neither included) for quick copying, as needed.
Use data sheets for baseline and progress monitoring. Add multiple dates and use multiple colored pens/markers (not included) to track data over time.
Within one year, student will verbally identify the category when presented with three pictured items and add one more to the group in 80% of trials, as assessed over 3 charted opportunities.
