This is a resource full of exclusion examples for students to identify and tell about. As Sesame Street says, “One of these things is not like the others…”
A variety of summer vocabulary is used, but non-seasonal images are also used and this activity can be used year-round. Students identify which item does belong in each set of 4 or more. Some of the differences are more subtle than others. Students may need some scaffolding to determine what’s different.
Then they tell what the other items have in common. And then they tell why this item doesn’t belong.
A variety of different types of images have been used. The pages are provided in 2 formats; full page, and 1/4 pg to use as cards.
A visual cues page is provided for students to get started, or for those who need them all the way through.
